" CLIP": the clothes peg - DESIGNER: Architect Salvatore Bianco and Architect Ivano Fiamma.

Subject of our design project has been an object of common use in everyday life, the clothes peg.

"CLIP" is made up of plastic material, polyamide and nylon resin with high elasticity and resistance. The peculiarity of this object is formed by just one element obtained through wiredrawing or moulding. This choice has determined the suppression of the classic clothes peg, which very often, due to the metal pieces, which can rust and stain the linen. However, the productive process used in this case brings down its cost eliminating some stages, as the one concerned with the assembly of the components. "CLIP" could be left on the washing line when not in use, making more it comfortable and easy to use, which means no more clothes peg baskets! We have also designed the "double- CLIP ", consequent evolution of the "CLIP" . Two joined clips, whose junction point is the hollow where the washing line is positioned, form it. The utilization steps are those reported in the figure. We are also working on a new version, which we cannot publish until we get the invention patent.

Stars" has come about from the request of a customer wishing to create a comfortable atmosphere in his apartment designed for social gathering . An understanding of the aesthetic, emotional and practical expectations of the user inspires the design. The lamp is very simple; it has been made in wood, and then painted in a way that makes the lamp a nice piece of furniture when not in use. Because of its wide ray of light, it is essential to place the lamp in very large environments (the diameter is 80cm long).

The design project has been inspired by both the style of the environment (an American bar) with essential furniture and the name of the club that recall an important European work. The weakness of this environment was something missing ; in fact, the lamp has been studied to be place in a way that can be seen from the outside too. All these aspects have determined the choice of the shape, the size and the material in which "LIGHTIME" has been produced. Its structure is constituted by a special kind of oxidized steel, which is not very well known because it is generally used for industrial uses. Its origins are quite paradoxical: this special metal alloy has few parts of copper, material considered a corrosion inhibitor, a characteristic taken into great consideration in creating a new alloy; but in the end, the results failed to meet the researcher's expectations. At the same time, this material meets our needs: it has been chosen for the creation of the "LIGHTIME" because of its special chromaticity when oxidized, aspect, which is not found in other types of alloys and metals.
